Tips For Smoking Cessation

Smoking is becoming less socially acceptable and more people are turning to different smoking cessation techniques to help them give up the evil weed. This has become an extremely hot topic because of the number of countries that have passed legislation that makes smoking in public places an offense. However, there are still millions of people around the world who still smoke, so what smoking cessation measures are available that can help them succeed in quitting the habit for good? There are a huge number of them, but what might work for one person, may not work for another. If you are a smoker, then it is often a matter of trial and error to find out which is the most effective smoking cessation method for you.
Will power is central to the success of any smoking cessation method. You have to actually want to give up smoking. If you are not determined enough then you are likely to start smoking again. Set yourself a date where you are going to be giving up smoking and stick to it. Throw away all of your ashtrays, lighters and any other smoking paraphernalia. Some people find that will power alone is enough to help them quit smoking and they never pick up another cigarette, or cigar, again. A lot of people, no matter what their reasons are for giving up, find that they need another smoking cessation aid to ensure that they quit. The best part is, it’s free!
Nicotine replacement gum has become extremely popular as a smoking cessation product. As its name suggests, it is chewing gum that contains a low level of nicotine. You simply chew this a couple of times, when you have the urge to light up, and the nicotine released will help you to cope with your cravings. The gum is available in packs with different strengths of nicotine, enabling you to step-down over time, until you finally can do without the gum completely. Other nicotine replacement therapies include lozenges and patches. These are all available without prescription and prices range from around $4, to $6 per day.
Hypnotherapy is a smoking cessation technique that many people find extremely effective. You become convinced that you do not need to smoke and learn affirmations to tell yourself how much better off you are without smoking. This is a very personalized treatment, and the hypnotherapist creates a program specifically designed around you, and your reasons for wanting to smoke. Prices vary depending on how many sessions you need and where you live.
Many other complimentary therapies are available that can help you to give up smoking. For example, acupuncture is often advertised as being a smoking cessation aid. The small needles are placed in specific points over your body. All, but one are taken out at the end of a session. This needle is normally close to the ear. When you feel a craving start, you simply tweak the needle and the craving should lessen. Again, costs can vary.
If you use a smoking cessation aid, you need to be aware of any potential side effects. The majorities of these are very minor, and do not last for very long. However, there are always other options available. Seek the advice of a health professional.

Do You Find Smoking Enjoyable?

From my own experience I discovered that I hate smoking. I hate the way it makes me feel, I hate what it is doing to my body, I hate the fact that I feel guilty for doing it, I hate that I need to plan my daily tasks around my next cigarette, and I really hate that I failed so many times to quit smoking.
Quitting smoking for me was much more than a desire it was a curse. I struggled time and time again to give up the addiction that was slowly draining me of life. I wanted to quit smoking so badly I thought there was nothing that could keep me from doing it. Each time I quit I found myself at the local gas station buying a pack of cigarettes merely to quiet the nicotine withdrawals I was encountering. Day after day I would do this. I would smoke what I had then I would quit again only to go through the whole process again.
The continued failure to quit smoking began to wear me down to the point I thought the only way I was going to be able to quit was to get bad news from my doctor that I had cancer. The thought of not being able to see my baby girl grow up depressed me even more. I wanted to quit smoking so badly, if not for me for her. So why was I having such a difficult time quitting?
Then finally after several attempts to quit I was actually able to make it through one day, then two, and so on. I was so excited and shocked that I was able to quit smoking. I guess the moral of the story is to not let go of your desire to quit smoking. If you get knocked off your horse get right back on and try it again. By being persistent I was able to quit smoking and rid myself of the addiction that was controlling my life.

To Smoke or Not

Can we be forgiven for being a bit cynical about the news that the pharmaceuticals have produced a drug to beat the smoking habit, just in time it would appear, for the nationwide smoking ban to come into force in the UK.
Apparently the new pill Champix, also known as CHX 1.0 or varenicline, has to be taken twice daily and will be available on the NHS by prescription only.
Nicotine has been described by some doctors as being as addictive as heroin. I would beg to differ. Heroin is a narcotic, requiring larger and larger intakes to achieve the same result and very quickly becomes a necessity to be able to function at all. Nicotine by itself is not that addictive. However it does have a certain psychological and physiological addictiveness conspiring to make it a difficult habit to throw.
Physiologically, once nicotine reaches the brain it stimulates particular nerve cells to give a greater awareness and faster reaction times. It can also prevent the degradation of dopamine and actually release more to give you that feelgood high. As if that wasn’t enough, nicotine increases the levels of endorphins which reduce pain, thus inducing euphoria and the extra glutamate availability can improve the memory.
In sharp contrast, Bupropion, also known as Zyban, the previous prescription drug for helping smokers quit, had a long list of side effects such as insomnia, headaches, dry mouth and seizures. Interestingly the seizures had not come to light during the trials of the drug.
The new drug Champix, we are assured is quite safe and has been tested in clinical trials. Nevertheless Pfizer, the producers of Champix have admitted to some side effects such as nausea, insomnia, headaches and hallucinatory dreams. This admission does not bode well for consumers of this latest pill since we know from past human tragedies, clinical trials undertaken on behalf of pharmaceuticals have a habit, some would call it an addiction, of emphasizing the positive and discounting or covering up the most unfavourable aspects.
Smoking of course, is not healthy and is becoming more socially unacceptable by the day in most parts of the western world. But if I was a smoker the choice between a slow death by poisonous pills or a slow death by cigarettes would not be a difficult one to call.
There is a much easier way to give up smoking, or any other unwanted habit for that matter, by using modern hypnosis techniques or any of the excellent subliminal products available to us all on the market today.
In fact the human mind can be optimized in almost any area. The only criteria is that you must want to achieve your goal whether it’s quitting smoking, losing weight or healing your body. Anything is possible. Start by taking control of your own life.

Do You Know Why You Are Addicted to Cigarettes

Cigarette smoking is just about the most disgusting habit there is. Yet surprisingly people who do smoke can not quit. If you smoke do you know why you are addicted to cigarettes? In this article we will look at the transformation of a social smoker into a full time cigarette addict.
At first you become addicted to cigarettes because of the fast action of nicotine on the pleasure centers of your brain. When you puff on a cigarette the nicotine in your lungs enters your blood stream and within 15 to 20 seconds begins to work on your brain.
Once in your brain nicotine binds to receptors that are intended for the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. These neurotransmitters affect your mood and behavior.
The neurotransmitter dopamine affects the reward center that causes feelings of pleasure and enjoyment. Serotonin helps moderate your mood and controls your appetite. GABA produces a calming effect that reduces anxiety.
Smoking is a means of artificially spiking the acetylcholine system resulting in feelings of pleasure, calmness, and a moderation of your mood.
As an occasional you may begin to use cigarettes as a means of coping with life's daily stresses. You switch from social smoking to daily smoking. Once you begin smoking several cigarettes a day, nicotine is constantly stimulating your brain, 24 hours a day. You are psychologically addicted to the positive effects of nicotine.
Your brain adapts to the frequent presence of nicotine. Your brain physically changes by increasing the nicotine receptor concentration. This requires more nicotine for your brain to function properly. That is, your brain now becomes dependent on nicotine for normal functions. This adaptation produces tolerance for nicotine.
When your brain is unable to get the required amount of nicotine, you experience withdrawal symptoms. These withdrawal symptoms include restlessness and irritability. You may have trouble sleeping or in getting along with family and friends. You often appear anxious one day and listless the next.
As an addicted cigarette smoker you often go for your first dose of nicotine as soon as possible in the morning. Many smokers take their first puffs within 5 minutes of awakening.
Throughout the day you need nicotine doses every couple of hours. You will use your one break at work to smoke. You will go outside and stand in the snow to smoke. You may get up in the night to have a puff when you go to the bathroom.
You are now a cigarette addict and destined for a life of health problems not to mention the outlandish cost of a carton of cigarettes. If you are already a cigarette addict you face a tough road ahead to quitting. If you are a social smoker quit while you still can.

Quit Smoking - You Can Do It!

Just because smoking is hard to quit and that you had been continuously failing in your attempt to quit doesn’t mean that quitting is impossible. Though there are many people who relapse there are also a number of people who bid adieu to cigarette for good. Its not a lost case even if you fail for uncountable times, there are many in your league. There would hardly be a smoker who could quit in his first attempt. Therefore, don’t lose heart just believe in yourself, YOU CAN DO IT!
It is an undeniable fact that it is not easy to quit smoking. Nicotine is one of the most difficult addictions to let go. The withdrawal symptoms and the craving are one of the most difficult phases to pass through. It is because of this that many quitters relapse. Due to the want of Nicotine the body undergoes a stage of depression, uneasiness, lethargy, dizziness, restlessness etc, and knowing that just by smoking the body will be feeling good again we often fail to stand firm in our resolution.
Nicotine gets into the brain and activates the neurotransmitter dopamine which gives a rewarding feeling, so, when we smoke we feel good and in no time we get addicted and our body wants to get that feeling again and again. When the level of nicotine is low we begin to feel the craving, the want to have that feel good factor once again overwhelm us. So, we end up lighting again after every short interval.
There are various methods which help many smokers to successfully quit smoking. Medical as well as non- medical treatments are available. The non-medical treatments are an aid on to the medical treatments mostly to enhance an effective way to really quit smoking. The medical treatments are in the form of Nicotine replacement therapy and pills.
Nicotine replacement therapy comes in the form of lozenges, gums, inhaler, patches and nasal spray. They are approved by the FDA as a treatment for anti-smoking. As the name suggest they are used as a replacement to the harmful Nicotine.
In the pills there is the bupropion popularly sold under the trade name Zyban by GlaxoSmithKline. It actually was an anti-depressant and due to its side effect of causing seizure it was pulled down from the market. In 1997 it was approved by the FDA as a treatment for anti-smoking.
Varenicline which is sold under the brand name Chantix is the latest and one of the most effective pills for smoking cessation treatments. It is marketed by Pfizer Inc. and was approved by the FDA on May 2006 as a treatment for smoking addiction in adults. It is effective for the treatment of addiction of cigarette as well as all kinds of tobacco products. In a short time it has gained ample recognition as a popular treatment for quit smoking and is known to bring in successful results. It is not a replacement containing nicotine nor is it addictive. It makes the craving and nicotine withdrawal lighter and also diminishes the taste of cigarette. You can buy chantix online or order chantix from any nearby medical store.
Changing your life style, habit, eating healthy and engaging in meditation, prayers and becoming more religious are really helpful in smoking cessation. They uplift and refresh the mind. When you are feeling weak and hopeless and are on the verge of going back to your old habit, prayer and meditation and also seeking the advice and guidance of your pastors or religious leader will calm you down.
Selecting the most suitable treatment, start a new quit program. However, it should not be forgotten that consulting physician is a must for whichever treatment or medicine you are to take. Buying online or in a physical store you still need prescription from physician for the right dosage as these medicines usually come with side effects. Your doctor will know the best treatment for you after seeing your history.

How to Finally Quit Smoking

by: Chris Chenoweth

More than four hundred and forty thousand people die in the United States each year from smoking. Smoking is directly responsible for causing lung cancer, heart disease, strokes, and pregnancy complications, not to mention contributing to overall poorer health. So why do so many people still smoke? Because trying to quit is one of the most difficult things to do. However, you CAN do it with a little help and determination. If you smoke and have tried to quit, you know how difficult and painful it can be. Many people actually try a number of times before they are successful. What makes it so difficult is the fact that nicotine is an incredibly addictive drug, on the same level as cocaine or heroin.
Switching to low-tar and/or low-nicotine cigarettes is a tactic that many people try, thinking that it will be less harmful. However, because nicotine is so addicting, switching will only make you puff harder and more often on each cigarette. Your only choice for your body’s health is to quit completely. In spite of the many risks associated with smoking, some smokers, particularly women, believe there are also risks associated with quitting. These perceived risks, gaining weight, increased stress, and damaging relationships with friends who do smoke, can reduce a smoker’s motivation to quit resulting in a lower chance of success.
What can help motivate a smoker to quit? Quitting smoking is one of the most important things you will ever do. Consider the following:
REASONS FOR QUITTING
*First and foremost, you will live longer and you will live a healthier life.
*Your risk for developing heart disease, cancer, lung disease, stroke and other health conditions will diminish significantly.
*Your family will no longer be subjected to breathing in your smoke. Secondhand smoke kills!
*If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, stopping smoking will improve your baby’s chances of being healthy.
*You will be amazed at how much better you will feel and how much better you will be able to taste and smell.
*You will save money. (The price of cigarettes today means you will save a lot of money!)
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARE READY
When you are ready to quit, follow the steps below. They will increase your chances of success and help you kick the habit for good.
*Set a quit date and stick to it.
*Change your environment.
You MUST do this to succeed.
1. Get rid of every ashtray you have, in your home, your car, your office, everywhere.
2. Do not allow anyone to smoke in your home, ever.
3. If you associate any particular item or event with smoking, such as having a cup of coffee, eliminate those things for a period of at least a couple of months.
*Change your behaviors.
1. When you have the urge to smoke, participate in activities that will distract you like going for a long, leisurely walk with a friend or family member, clean house, play with your kids, call a support person to talk you through the tough time.
2. Change your routine. Drink hot tea instead of coffee, instead of eating in front of the TV, eat at the kitchen table with your family.
3. Try some soothing stress reducers like taking a long hot bath, starting an exercise regimen, or reading a good book.
4. Plan something different or enjoyable every day, whether it is a solitary activity or something to do with family or friends.
*If you have made previous attempts to quit and failed, analyze those attempts and try to deduce why they did not work.
*You will have a better chance of success, if you enlist the support of others.
1. Tell everyone you know, your family, friends, and co-workers that you are going to quit and ask for their support.
2. Ask them not to smoke around you and not to leave cigarettes laying around.
3. Find out what kind of support programs your local hospital or health care center offer.
4. There are medications that can double your chances of success. Ask your doctor for advice.
*Drink lots of water to help flush the toxins out of your body. Drinking a lot of water will also help fill you up so you will not be so inclined to overeat.
*Once you quit, DO NOT TAKE ANOTHER PUFF, EVER! Keep yourself away from as much temptation as possible. BE PREPARED FOR DIFFICULTIES
Many people have relapses within the first couple of months after quitting and many people try to quit several times before they are successful at it. Do not be discouraged and give up if this happens. Set a new date and start over but DO NOT GIVE UP! Below are situations that may challenge you: *DO NOT BE AROUND OTHER SMOKERS unless you have to. Being around other people who are smoking when you are trying to quit can be an agonizing experience. *DO NOT GET DEPRESSED. There are many ways to uplift your spirits. Count your blessings, congratulate yourself for quitting, and find something to do that you enjoy. *AVOID DRINKING ALCOHOL. It can lower your chance of success. *DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WEIGHT GAIN. The most common concern for many people who are considering giving up smoking is weight gain. Do not ever use this as an excuse. While most people usually gain around 10 pounds after they quit smoking, there is no reason you have to. Follow a healthy eating plan and get 20 minutes of physical activity every day.
Follow the tips above. You CAN quit smoking!

How To Remove Cigarettes From Your Life

Keep a journal and write in it whenever you begin to get the overwhelming temptation to light up. Instead of picking up a cigarette, pick up a pen to write with. Write down your feelings at the moment, your frustrations and your good days you have. This helps with releasing many of the cravings you will have and go through, it also helps in taking your mind of smoking on to something else.
Ready yourself for the times of challenge ahead of you, which will happen at some point in your quest to beat smoking. Make a solidified plan for when these temptations hit you to smoke and instead go jogging, take a nice walk, swim, take a bike ride or anything you enjoy that will keep you from smoking.
You can also speak with your medical doctor about some of the quit smoking medications and devices available. He can help determine which ones may work the best for your specific problem with this habit. Many of these quit smoking helpful devices and treatments come in the form of patches, inhalers, nasal sprays, gum and even the use of anti-depressant medicines which helps you with relieving the withdrawal and temptations to pick up a smoke.
Make sure all tobacco and cigarette products are cleared out of your work area, cars, home and other areas which you will be occupying. This is important to your reaching your goal to quit smoking. If you don't have easy access to cigarettes then you will be more apt to occupy yourself with something else when an urge hits you.
Programs are also available in groups of people who are struggling with the same demons you are in trying to quit smoking and get in better health. You can join one of these groups supporting quitting the smoking habit at some schools, gyms and other facilities in your local area. These groups offer a added area of support for you because these people are all going through exactly what you are and understand you.
Quitting smoking has so many more benefits than that of smoking. Your lungs have a better capacity for working, your tastes and smell of things will also begin improving, circulation will be improved, having shortness of breath will get fewer, excessive coughing will quiet down along with congestion in the sinus areas too, And your risk of heart disease is reduced. With all these good things why shouldn't you stop smoking right this minute?
Make a commitment to yourself and your family to stop smoking today. You'll be doing your body and health a tremendous favor along with your loved ones who want you to be with them for many, many more years to come. Best Quit Smoking Plan

The best quit smoking plan is to use your noggin! Lucky you if you're quitting smoking and decided not to waste your time and money on drugs, but opted to deal with your psychological habit as well as the physical nicotine addiction. It's a myth that nicotine is the big problem—it is a problem all right, but more a temporary darn nuisance. The best quit smoking plan is to concentrate on overcoming your habitual and emotional addiction, which is the secret to serious and lasting success.
Clear your mind of any worry that nicotine has you in its grip. Yes it's nasty stuff, but it's out of your bloodstream in 48-72 hours, even for the heaviest smokers.

However, there's a billion dollar drug industry out there, pandering to the human desire for quick fixes, and fortunes are being made by promoting a lengthy withdrawal of nicotine with drugs for temporarily controlling the desire for a smoke. But recognize the medical truth, the facts when quitting smoking…
Nicotine withdrawal lasts 48-72 hours maximum and like going off many drugs including coffee, it may cause various degrees of short term irritability, lack of concentration, stomach ache, headache, and mild depression. Of course SOME smokers looking for the best quit smoking plan WILL quit using any one of the various techniques available; because they believe what they are using will work. Their belief is due to faith in advertising, doctors and pharmaceutical products, recommendations, some new clever gimmick trumpeted by press releases, and so on. But mostly these people can thank the power of their mind—their BELIEF that they can quit.
Yes, once someone has made a decision to quit, and paid money—if the method says bang your head against the wall 3 times a day, or drink this purple liquid, then one out of 10-20 people will quit. As Woody Allan said, "80% of success is in your decision, 20% in your actions."
Whatever reasons you started to smoke (maybe peer pressure, the cool or grown-up factor, trauma, stress, or your mother told you not to), the stimulant drug, nicotine, then usually steps in and you are hooked. Possibly you've discovered by now that due to the simple chemical effects of nicotine on the brain, it helps you avoid dealing with unpleasant emotions.
Simply put, the brain chemical dopamine is released, which produces feelings of satisfaction and pleasure. After a while the ritual becomes important and your habit is fed by triggers. These triggers feed your subconscious and tell you mentally when it's smoke time, as well as the nicotine physically telling you it's top up time.
Smoking may be a coping mechanism when you're upset, sad, anxious, bored or a signal to take a break from work, walk the dog, drink etc.
Cigarettes become your friend to turn to in need, and hey, we all need our friends.
Consider this: Dan has a heart attack, is rushed to hospital and with modern methods is saved and finally after 2 weeks is allowed home. Do you think Dan, a smoker, was allowed to smoke in hospital—no way José.
So he's got no physical nicotine addiction now, but he gets home and the phone rings. It's Mick, so he reaches into his pocket for his smokes because he always used to sit back and have a nice yarn on the phone to Mick—and a smoke. Oops, back to the old habit! That's just one of the many cues Dan has to un-learn or re-program in his mind if he wants to stop smoking permanently.
If you are quitting smoking, the best quit smoking plan for you is to recognize the facts—do you want to spend months trying out a drug, or do you want to quit quickly and permanently using your own noggin.

The smoker is fighting the addiction and resists having a cigarette, while the non smoker can not think of anything worse than smoking. Perhaps you have met the non-smoker, really more of a fanatic that often express his or her feelings about smoking and smokers. That negative attitude helps them to stay non-smokers.Other smokers who quit smoking years ago can still say 'I would love to have a cigarette to this beer' and if you are trying to quit smoking that is terrifying to hear. Quit Smoking In One Hour

Every smoker and former smoker know that the humble cigarette provides a hundred daily uses. It is hard for non-smokers to understand the extent to which smokers develop an emotional attachment with their habit. A non-smoker see it as just a bad habit, whereas smokers are well aware that cigarettes in some way have become part of their identity. Millions of smokers can testify that they packed in a long-term habit overnight, and never desired another cigarette again. Many aids have been developed to help smokers give up the habit, so it is quite ironic that one of the most common thoughts on most smokers mind is how to stop smoking. Every smoker know all the reasons why they should quit, but still struggle to take the final decision.Telling a smoker that they are harming themselves does not tell them how to quit. One of the methods that work very well is hypnosis which is a legitimate method and not pseudo science.A supposition would be that smoking is a physical addiction, and that is true to some extent. But, smoking is a psychological addiction first and foremost and that is precisely why one would recommend using hypnosis to quit smoking. This is not new information, it has been known since very long and hypnosis for quitting smoking is as effective as products that help you stop smoking. For hypnosis most use help from a hypnotherapist who first check how responsive you are, then slowly takes you into a dreamlike state. A hypnosis session is a process where the therapeutist puts the patient into the right mode and advises him or her not to smoke. There has been much research conducted concerning the hypnosis treatments, and the result is that hypnosis treatments are just as effective as any variant of stop smoking products. There is a discussion and arguments to whether or not hypnosis quit smoking treatments are actually useful in the long term. A smoker that is looking for ways to quit smoking because someone else is constantly telling them to stop then it is unlikely that hypnosis will help. Any other method will also fail to make them to stop.An efficient treatment will result in a smoke free person, but for how long? Most smokers have experienced it several times, they have been down the road to quitting for good, then suddenly they start again. How come this happens? It is because addiction is very clever and deeply rooted and it works at an unconscious level. So even a strong conviction can after some time be severely hit by addiction. It has waited until you are at a low point, and then addiction strikes. Suddenly you find yourself making up the most incredibly creative reasons for why it is OK to have just one cigarette more. To celebrate something is the usual way to fraud yourself. It certainly is a profound difference between a smoker that has stopped smoking and a non-smoker. The smoker courageously resists having a cigarette, while the non-smoker could not think of anything worse than smoking. It is very common that former smokers show very strong negative reactions against smoking and smokers. If you are serious and want to make the effort to free yourself from the terrible effects of smoking, why not do it right? You should use a proper smoking cessation program that will leave you free of the desire to smoke. Here is where the quit smoking hypnosis works great.

When Did We Know About The Effects Of Cigarette Smoking

It seems a day doesn't go by that we don't hear or see something about cigarette smoking and the tobacco companies being blamed for the destructive effects of cigarette smoking on our health, is it a bad rap put on the tobacco companies, or a way for the states to collect more taxes. If you haven't heard the states our increasing the tax on cigarettes, on January 1st Texas increased the tax by a $1.00 a pack to $1.41, New Jersey levies a nation-high $2.58 state tax per pack.Bangor Maine bans smoking in cars carrying children which went in to effect on Jan.19, it allows the police to stop cars if an adult is smoking while a child under 18 is a passenger. The smoker can be fined $50. Most large companies now have smoke free workplace policies. So when did we become aware that cigarette smoking was bad for us? It would seem to be on January 11, 1964, when Surgeon General Luther Terry issued a landmark concluding, for the first time, that smoking is a direct cause of lung cancer, heart disease, and emphysema. In 1964, 50-percent of adult males and 46-percent of all Americans smoked cigarettes. Then on May 27, 2004 the U.S. Surgeon General Richard H. Carmona released a new comprehensive report on smoking and health, revealing for the first time that smoking causes diseases in nearly every organ of the body. Published 40 years after the surgeon general's first report on smoking, which concluded that smoking was a definite cause of three serious diseases, this newest report finds that cigarette smoking is conclusively linked to diseases such as leukemia, cataracts, pneumonia and cancers of the cervix, kidney, pancreas and stomach."We've known for decades that smoking is bad for your health, but this report shows that it's even worse than we knew," Dr. Carmona said. "The toxins from cigarette smoke go everywhere the blood flows. I'm hoping this new information will help motivate people to quit smoking and convince young people not to start in the first place." Statistics indicate that more than 12 million Americans have died from smoking since the 1964 report of the surgeon general, and another 25 million Americans alive today will most likely die of a smoking related illness. It would seem that the tobacco companies have killed more of us than all the wars in history. So it looks like we have know that cigarette smoking is bad for are health a little over 40 years right, well in my research I found the following information dated 1892 Titled The Destructive Effects of Cigarette Smoking.Cigarettes have been analyzed, and most physicians and chemists were surprised to find how much opium is put into them. A tobacconist himself says that the extent to which drugs are used in cigarettes is appalling. Havana flavoring for this same purpose is sold everywhere by the thousand barrels. This flavoring is made from the tonkabean, which contains a deadly poison. The wrappers, warranted to be rice paper, are sometimes made of common paper, and sometimes of the filthy scrapings of rag pickers bleached white with arsenic. What a thing for human lungs. The habit burns up good health, good resolutions, good manners, good memories, good faculties, and often honesty and truthfulness as well.Cases of epilepsy, insanity and death are frequently reported as the result of smoking cigarettes, while such physicians as Dr. Lewis Sayre, Dr. Hammond, and Sir Morell Mackenzie of England, name heart trouble, blindness, cancer and other diseases as occasioned by it.Leading physicians of America unanimously condemn cigarette smoking as one of the vilest and most destructive evils that ever befell the youth of any country, declaring that its direct tendency is a deterioration of the race.Look at the pale, wilted complexion of a boy who indulges in excessive cigarette smoking. It takes no physician to diagnose his case, and death will surely mark for his own every boy and young man who will follow up the habit. It is no longer a matter of guess. It is a scientific fact which the microscope in every case verifies. He also goes on to list the cost of smoking and I was surprised that one cigarette cost between 5 and 10 cents each, that's one to two dollars a pack which was a lot of money then.If the physicians new in 1892 the destructive effects of cigarette smoking why has it taken over 115 years to inform us that the tobacco companies have been poisoning us and we need to quit smoking, could it be the tobacco companies lobbing efforts, who knows, but now that we are aware and the tobacco companies no were aware, they won't be up to any more tricks to keep us hooked, they even put links on their web sites to stop smoking sites to help us quit smoking.Guess what if you believe that you under estimate the power of greed, the following is taken from Massachusetts Department of Public Health they are one of only 3 states that require tobacco companies to submit reports and what they found is, that from 1998 to 2004 the amount of nicotine in a cigarette has increased steadily, the study showed that regardless of brand that the amount of nicotine that is actually delivered to the smokers lungs has increased significantly overall, nicotine yields increased ten percent. Marlboro, Newport, and Camel, the three most popular brands with young smokers, all delivered significantly more nicotine, and Kool menthol increased a woping twenty percent.Nicotine in tobacco is a highly addictive drug that affects nearly every organ in our body with the increased levels of nicotine in cigarettes it makes it more difficult to quit smoking. Smoking is a very powerful addiction, and it can take multiple attempts to quit smoking but you must keep trying, you can successfully quit smoking. Today we have many resources to help us quit smoking, so lets send a message to the tobacco companies and spend that cigarette money on as many stop smoking programs that it takes.A lot of the quit smoking programs on line offer full money back guarantee so what do you have to lose except a bad habit and the destructive effects of cigarette smoking on our health.

Quit Smoking By Hypnosis For Better Health

As the health hazards of smoking become more obvious and laws against the habit become for forceful, many people trying to quit smoking by hypnosis are having more success than with other methods. Smoking is understood to be an addiction to nicotine and not just a habit that is hard to break and some consider the approximate 65 percent success rate as being a good return. One of the main misconceptions about hypnotism is that people can be made to do just about anything. However, they cannot be made to do something their subconscious would refuse. Many people have been able to quit smoking hypnosis because the suggestion is placed in their subconscious that they are a non-smoker and the conscious mind does not know any better. When a person is under hypnosis, it is really just a totally relaxed state of mind in which the conscious mind opens and allows thoughts and words to enter the subconscious. The subconscious mind will interpret most of what it hears as fact and if told they do not smoke, their efforts to quit smoking by hypnosis will be successful.Remaining Smoke Free Is Conscious DecisionOnce the person is no longer in this state of deep relaxation, depending on the strength of the suggestion placed in the subconscious, they may rekindle their smoking addiction. Nationally, the success rate to quit smoking by hypnosis is 65 percent on the first session. The success rate increases for those attempting to quit smoking by hypnosis a second time.Other behavior modifications can be influenced and typically a hypnotherapist or a hypnosis clinic will offer help to quit smoking by hypnosis as well as achieve weight loss. The acceptance of being able to quit smoking by hypnosis is such that some hypnotherapists are offering a do-it-yourself kit, which includes visual stimuli as well as recorded suggestions. The quit smoking kits are available to be played either on a home DVD player on a home computer and can be used over and over until the desired change in behavior has been achieved. Some hypnotherapists believe these are merely gimmicks and will not provide any beneficial results while others, including people who have successfully achieved their objective, stand behind their success. Those trying to quit should consult with a certified hypnotist to ensure they truly know how to enter a person's subconscious mind and plant suggestions the correct way. This technique will certainly be of great benefit to you if used wisely. Enjoy it along with your cigarette free lifestyle.
